He holds a B.A. from UCLA (1995) and a J.D. from Southwestern University School of Law (2000), and is admitted to the California bar, the U.S. Supreme Court, and several U.S. Circuit Courts.

According to the firm's website, Haghighi came to the United States after fleeing persecution and was granted asylum. He is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association, the American Bar Association, and the Los Angeles County Bar Association.
