Our service
Two audiences use this site for different reasons. This page sets out exactly what each gets, what a listing costs, and the policies that govern listings, reviews and editorial coverage.
Everything on this site is free to use
No account, no paywall, no email gate. We do not sell reader data and we do not pass your details to any firm.
What we cannot do for you
We are not a law firm and cannot advise you, review your documents, tell you whether you have a case or recommend a particular attorney. We also do not operate a referral service — when you contact a firm from this site you are contacting them directly, and we are not part of that relationship.
Listings
Two tiers. The difference is presentation — not position, not verification, and not editorial treatment.
Basic listing — free
Every firm we can confirm is practising in LA County is eligible, whether or not they ever contact us.
- Firm name, address, phone and practice areas
- Appears in directory search and practice-area pages
- Verified badge if State Bar records check out
- Client reviews, same as any listing
Enhanced profile — paid
Your firm gets its own set of pages under
/directory/your-firm/, which you control.
- Everything in the basic listing
- Dedicated About, Our service, News and Contact pages
- Logo, photography, attorney bios and service detail
- Publish firm news that appears on your profile
What paying does not buy
Not a higher position in search results. Not a Verified badge — that depends only on State Bar records. Not a better rating, and not the removal of a poor one. Not editorial coverage, and not protection from it. If we would not write it about a firm that pays nothing, we will not write it about one that does.
Listing, review and editorial policy
Listing eligibility
We list attorneys and law firms with a physical presence or an active practice in Los Angeles County. We do not list non-attorney services that provide legal document preparation unless they are clearly labelled as such, and we do not list firms whose California registration is suspended or revoked.
What the Verified badge means
That a member of our team checked the firm's registration and current standing against the State Bar of California's public records on the date shown. It is a factual check, not a quality judgement, and it is re-checked periodically and removed if the record changes. We have not completed this check for any firm yet, so no listing on the site currently carries the badge.
Reviews
Once reviews open to site visitors, we will not verify that a reviewer was a client of the firm, and reviews should be read with that in mind. We would remove a review only if it contains personal data, unlawful content, or is demonstrably from a competitor or the firm itself — never because the firm asked, and a paid listing will not change that.
Editorial independence
Interviews, guides and news items are produced by the LA Law Hub desk and are not for sale. Firms have no right of veto over coverage. Where we run a real, named interview, the interviewee is sent their quotes for factual review before publication, which is not the same as approval of the article; pieces marked as editorial composites are clearly labelled as such instead.
Corrections
We correct errors on the page itself and note what changed and when. To report one, contact the desk with the URL and what is wrong. We aim to respond within three working days.
Removing or updating a listing
A firm may ask us to update its details or remove a basic listing at any time by writing from a firm-controlled email address. We will confirm before making changes. Removal of a listing does not remove editorial coverage that mentions the firm.
