Privacy policy
Last updated August 13, 2026
LA Law Hub (“we”, “us”) publishes a legal directory and news site at www.lalawhub.com. This policy explains what personal information we handle and what we do with it. It is written to be read, not to be impenetrable — if something here is unclear, ask us.
Who this covers
This policy covers www.lalawhub.com and the email addresses published on it. It does not cover law firms listed in our directory. When you contact a firm through details published here, you are dealing with that firm directly and their own privacy practices apply — we are not a party to that exchange and do not receive a copy of it.
What we collect
Information you give us
- Contact form: your name, email, organisation if supplied, the topic you select and the content of your message.
- Firm listing submissions: firm name, address, phone, contact name and role, firm email, California bar number, practice areas and any additional detail you provide.
- Reviews: the display name and text you submit.
- Email subscriptions: your email address.
Information collected automatically
- Server logs: IP address, browser user agent, referring page, pages requested and timestamps.
- Aggregate analytics about which pages are read and for how long.
What our calculators do not collect
The tools under Resources → Tools run entirely in your browser as JavaScript. The figures you enter — income, medical bills, dates, case details — are never transmitted to us. There is no submit request, no server-side calculation and no logging of those fields. Close the tab and the values are gone.
We do record that a tool page was viewed, in the same way as any other page. We do not record what you typed into it.
How we use it
- To answer your message and, where relevant, follow up on it.
- To verify and publish a directory listing you asked us to create.
- To publish reviews, subject to our review policy.
- To send the weekly digest, if you asked for it.
- To keep the site secure, diagnose faults and understand which content is useful.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share your contact details with law firms so that they can solicit you. If a firm asks us for the details of readers, the answer is no.
Who we share it with
We share personal information only with service providers who help us operate the site — hosting, email delivery, content distribution — under contracts that limit them to that purpose. We may also disclose information where we are legally required to, or to protect the rights and safety of others.
If our business or this site is transferred to another owner, information may transfer with it; we would say so on this page before that took effect.
Cookies and analytics
We keep this deliberately light. We do not run advertising networks, retargeting pixels or third-party social tracking on this site. Analytics are used in aggregate to see which guides and tools are worth maintaining.
Your browser can block or delete cookies at any time; nothing on this site requires them in order to read it. Where your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat it as a valid opt-out of any sale or sharing of personal information — which is straightforward for us, because we do neither.
How long we keep it
- Contact messages: up to 24 months, then deleted.
- Listing submissions: for as long as the listing is published, plus 12 months.
- Subscription addresses: until you unsubscribe.
- Server logs: typically 90 days.
Your California privacy rights
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the CPRA gives you the right to:
- Know what personal information we have collected about you and where it came from.
- Request a copy of it.
- Request that we delete it.
- Request that we correct inaccurate information.
- Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information — see below for how to submit a request.
- Not be discriminated against for exercising any of these rights.
To exercise any of these, email [email protected] with “Privacy request” in the subject line. We will verify the request against the information we hold and respond within the period required by law. You may use an authorised agent; we will ask for proof of their authority.
Children
This site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes and how to reach us
If we change this policy we update the date at the top and, for material changes, note what changed. Continued use of the site after a change means the revised policy applies.
