About Eviction Defense Network
Eviction Defense Network (EDN) is a California 501(c)(3) nonprofit serving tenants in Los Angeles County. Its work focuses on eviction defense and access to legal help for individuals and families facing displacement. Its office is in downtown Los Angeles.
EDN provides limited representation for particular filings or hearings and full representation through a case's conclusion. Grant-funded intake covers mothers with minor children, frail or disabled older adults, very low-income individuals and disabled tenants; some Tenant Empowerment Program participants may also be retained.
The Tenant Empowerment Program combines videos, classes and workshops on landlord notices, eviction responses, discovery, evidence and settlement negotiation. Trial representation depends on an attorney being available when trial begins. Applicants must complete an in-person intake interview even after submitting the online application.
